Challenge

My awareness of being a person of color, a woman, an immigrant Latina and a visual artist lead me to create Challenge. The realization of these aspects as part of my identity forced me to look at systems of power and how these systems impact me. Challenge combines two big aspects of my life: strength training and the experiences from discovering my identity. It brings the two together, establishing an analogy of the physical and psychological exhaustion that can be caused by the different systems of oppression.
